Things we make
We started the blog on a whim a year ago today and since then it has taken on a life of it’s own.
Here are a few reminders, just click on the pictures to see a few of our exploits.
From Ed and his furniture
and his many home improvements.
To me and my gradually increasing baking addiction
and love of gardening and photography.
Plus news from George on his experiments and hobbies.
and a little bit of Ern, just because…
We hope you have enjoyed the posts you have read.
To say thanks for joining us we would like to offer you a little something:
Firstly, something to encourage the maker in you.
A recipe journal to keep a log of any interesting recipes that you come across.
To start you off I will add a few of my favourite recipes before I send it.
Secondly, to bring out your inner child, a homemade catapult designed and built by Ed and George.
Just leave us a reply below telling us which blog post you have enjoyed most and why.
On Fri 11th June we will randomly pick one of your comments from the end of this post to receive a gift.
That’s it!
Coincidentally this is also our 100th post, so you have a few to choose from.
*DRUM ROLL* The winner of our blog giveaway (generated by random.org) is @kaveyf!
Congratulations Kavey.
Recipe journal & catapult en route!
Thank you everyone for the lovely comments.

Happy blog birthday!
I’ve enjoyed your blog for the sheer variety, frankly – so it’s difficult to pick out one post, as they’re all quite different from one another. However, I have to say that any post with Ern in usually makes me laugh, and your picture of him eyeballing cupcakes in your ‘Frosted Cupcakes’ post of Aug 27th last year has to be one of my all-time favourites!
Long may your blog continue, Claire!
PS. Please discount me from your draw for the giveaway – I just wanted to drop by and say happy blog birthday, ’tis all

Almost certainly my favourite post is the girls birthday. But I’m biased.
No need to include me in the pressies giveaway, just make me some of those creamy traingle things again…oh hang on, I mean I’ll make them! Doh!

I particularly loved the bathroom post, just because I was so blown away by the talents of designing and creating that yourselves… beautiful.
But I also liked the croissant post too.
Loving the idea of the recipe journal with some of your recipes in it to start it off – such a wonderfully personal gift!
HAPPY BLOG BIRTHDAY TO YOU!

Happy Birthday Things we Make blog, I have enjoyed reading all your posts but my favourite is the Cake Pops post.
Firstly, it has cake, a great start for any recipe. Then a boys dream of mashing it all up and having a play with the food, then add fudge buttercream and chocolate and you have a little ball of goodness.
The imagery tops off the post enticing me in even further.
Oh and I liked the post ‘Pulled Pork’ but that is largely influenced by the post title 🙂

Happy Birthday and unlike all the others I do want to be in the draw for the prize as I think your recipes are worth it, Claire your food artistry is the best I have seen and when I am in the “office” starving, chained to the sewing machine you always manage to inspire me to cook something. I really loved the cake pops blog and I will be “trying” to make these for the school summer fair in a few weeks. I am looking forward to many, many more blogs in the future!

Hi…I love all your blogs, but I do have 2 faves…the one about the bouncy castle and the other about chatsworth. The main reason why I like these two particular blogs is that I feature in both of them :o)

Happy Blog Birthday!!! I’ve only just stumbled upon your blog from Tastespotting.. but I love the whole idea of it and hope to dive into some archived posts when I have more time. I do love those Risotto Balls though. And would still follow if you changed your title to “Balls we Make”!

My favourite blog just has to be the catapult – brings back lots of childhood memories (so many years ago unfortunately) of when I used to make my own catapults and fire small pebbles at empty tin cans on top of a fence. I was never much of a shot though – invariably missed.

I love Aug 12 – Courgette Flowers – the pictures are beautiful and the description of the stuffed courgettes sounds so mouthwatering. This is especially pertinent to me right now as I can see my first ever courgettes starting to bud, so it has made me super excited.

Hello!
Among many great posts my favourite has to be the cake pops! I’ve yet to try them but they look amazing and I’m sure when I finally do get round to it they will enable me to wangle no number of favours with friends and colleagues in return for a delicious cakey bite 🙂
Happy Birthday!

I’m a new reader of your blog and I have now bookmarked you because the recipes you post are fantastic. Coming from a Norwegian family, I was most pleased to see your traditional cinnamon buns recipe and I’d never have thought to make risotto balls – they look delicious!

Hi, i just found your site through tastespotting.com and i am super psyched about your cinnamon rolls. i’m home alone with my dogs today and thought i’d test them out. I bake a ton, but also enjoy the savory side of life with some paella, grilled eggplant, and good homemade cheeseburgers. Your site looks like a lot of fun. I look forward to finding another favorite recipe on here and hope that whoever receives your awesome gifts will put them to good use… including the slingshot!
your new follower,
Alysson
