Brendan’s Normandy Apple Tart

October 29, 2012

13

I spent Friday at the Seasoned Cookery School on a 'Brilliant Bakes' course hosted by Brendan, finalist in 2012's Great British Bake Off. The day started off very well with a slab of Brendan's homemade granola slice and a cup of tea.

Lovely Letterpress

October 17, 2012

You may already know of my love of Letterpress and that I occasionally like to add to my collection with a print from Jacqui who created our things{we}make logo. Last week I happily spent a day in Jacqui's new studio learning a little more about the process.

Pickle Post

October 25, 2011

So we’ve ridden the chutney wave and come out the other side. This year we are on a chutney break as we still have some of our own creations left and a few from family members and friends to work through. But late in the season we ended up with a couple of mini gluts. […]

Baby Shower

August 10, 2011

9

As Deb’s baby is only a few weeks away, yesterday we had an impromptu baby shower type gathering at Housley & Co headquarters. As you can imagine…we weren’t short of a cake or two. The most impressive being the towering pastel confection made by Louise. I love the little flags and ‘shower clouds’ that she made […]

George and the Balloon

This is George’s idea of a good time. Sometimes it’s easier not to ask “why?” I just take the photos.

On the up

There seems to be some good stuff happening for me this week that has left me all of a flutter. Firstly on Monday, whilst we were heading home from a Weekend away, an article about Things{we}make was published in the Foodie Bugle. I was very flattered to be asked to be featured in the new […]

For the last year I have been working with Deb from fabulousplaces.co.uk on a new magazine for Derbyshire called etc. We have had a lot of fun travelling around the county, meeting people, visiting fab places, writing articles and taking photos. It is a real labour of love as every single thing that you will […]

Kibble

November 17, 2010

11

I don’t remember quite how this happened, but a while ago our Twitter friend Marley Terrier told Debora at Licked Spoon that he bet I could even make kibble look delicious. Today I got the perfect opportunity to try and prove the theory when Ernie received a gift through the post. He’d won a prize […]

Beautiful Vegetables

September 5, 2010

7

After returning from our recent trips away there were some interesting crops to collect from the garden. If there is something in the garden more beautiful than cream coloured borlotti beans, speckled with scarlet, in their scarlet pods speckled with cream, then I have yet to find it. Then there is the collection of crazy […]

Behind the Photos

August 31, 2010

I was on the phone to Deb from FabulousPlaces.co.uk the other day, confirming details of the props we needed for a photo shoot at Amanda Hamilton’s lovely cottage in Duffield. I suddenly heard a squeal. I thought Deb had trodden on a kitten, but no, she had spotted that The Derbyshire Magazine had used one […]

Bluebell Woods

May 12, 2010

6

I was asked to tag along on with the school kids yesterday to our local woods. We set off first thing and it looked like we had lucked out with a sunny morning. The children were tasked with writing about the outdoors and finding similes, rhymes and alliteration. Some of them set about the task very […]

Deb from Fabulous Places and I visited Chatsworth House Gardens this week. It was quite a rainy old day but we were lucky and managed to dodge most of the showers. Here is a slide show of some of my photographs:
