Cheese – I made cheese!

April 30, 2013

Ever fancied making cheese? I did...and here it is. More to follow soon, I'm sure.

Onion Bhajis

April 22, 2013

Next time I'm making these homemade onion bhajis, I'll invite you all round so we can share out the calories.

Doing a plank

March 18, 2013

"An antipasti plank you say? I've got a big piece of oak. How big do you want it?"

Corn Tortillas

March 15, 2013

21

Preparing corn tortillas is a family affair, George is particularly good at shaping and pressing them, whilst I do the griddling. Ed is usually on chopping and beer opening detail.

Hot Soft Pretzels

February 16, 2013

22

Hot, soft, buttery, cinnamon sugar-coated pretzels - twisted and dipped by George.

Laab Moo – Pork Salad

January 25, 2013

24

If you like Thai flavours this is one for you. Hot, sour, salty, sweet pork salad in crispy lettuce leaves.

Courgette and Chorizo Tarts

September 30, 2012

26

Tasty little individual tarts made with a thyme and parmesan pastry then filled with courgette and chorizo.

Baked Eggs

May 1, 2012

20

A simple lunch of baked eggs...with a side order of pancetta and some crusty bread.

Chocolate Popcorn

April 8, 2012

9

Oh, I almost forgot. Here is my vague nod towards Easter chocolatiness. Fresh popcorn, drizzled with melted white chocolate, sprinkled with ‘hundreds and thousands’, a pinch of salt and Cadbury’s mini eggs. Good for Easter weekend movie viewing. Happy Easter.

Reuben Sandwich

January 11, 2012

21

A self-imposed healthy eating plan over the last few months has put many foods out of our reach. Due to spending too much time watching Diners, Drive Ins and Dives we keep craving big dirty sandwiches like the ‘Reuben‘. Today we could stand it no longer so I tweeted the loaf and asked if they had baked any rye […]

Ed’s Minestrone

November 6, 2011

6

An interview with a man about how he makes his soup.

Tortilla de Patatas

June 3, 2011

10

Just a little ‘Something for the Weekend’. In the days before children, Ed used to often make something like this on a Friday night after work. Something to tide us over until dinner. The truth of the matter was, once we’d had this and a few beers, we rarely got round to bothering with dinner. […]

Kale Crisps

March 25, 2011

14

Surely not. It can’t be true that I never got around to writing about kale crisps. We’d better fix that. Right here, right now. Kale is the only edible thing valiantly flourishing away in the garden at the moment. I’m a bit of a fan of the stuff. Have you noticed? Ever since enjoying several […]

Ed’s Sausage Rolls

January 23, 2011

5

A food post?  By me?  Surely some mistake? It’s all true, I did indeed make the sausage rolls in the pictures. They were the product of a happy accident that grew out of the usual christmas fridge surplus, coupled with me having time on my hands.  Add to that my closet weakness for savoury […]

Saturday Staples – Crispy Chicken

November 27, 2010

7

Crispy Chicken get’s eaten in our house more regularly than anything else because it is a child friendly quick tea. I would feel bad about that if I bought it from the supermarket ready done. I don’t feel so guilty about this homemade version though because it’s low-fat and I can choose the quality of […]

Saturday Staples – Stuffed ‘tatoes

November 20, 2010

1

The 2nd of a short series of mini, single photo posts about food that we eat regularly. Nothing fancy. Nothing complicated. Just everyday food that takes minutes to make and doesn’t need special equipment, scales or unusual ingredients. If I make jacket potatoes, I make an oven full. Not because we are greedy, oh no. […]

Gyoza

August 13, 2010

8

We’ve loved Gyoza, or pot sticker dumplings, since we first tried them. We make a regular trip to Wagamama’s or Yo Sushi! for a fix. After a visit to the chinese supermarket in Derby with Apryl of Meridian Ariel we finally had some dumpling wrappers so I set about making them myself. I was a […]

Sandwich

August 5, 2010

2

This is not so much a blog post as some photographs of a man made sandwich. Occasionally Ed manages to escape the office and come home for lunch. As he travels around the country to different construction sites for his job he doesn’t manage to do that too often so it’s a nice treat.

Risotto Balls

June 2, 2010

14

I think I may have to rename our blog. Balls we make? It’s getting out of hand, I realise. I have leftovers, I can’t bear to waste them. I turn them into something spherical, roll them in panko crumbs and fry them. It’s becoming a habit. But hey, I created dinner out of something that […]
